Free Online White Balance Tool — Fix Color Casts in Photos
Easily correct the white balance of your photos with our free online tool. Use the Temperature slider to adjust warm (amber) and cool (blue) tones, and the Tint slider to correct green or magenta color casts. Perfect for fixing indoor photos with artificial lighting, correcting underwater blue casts, warming up overcast landscapes, or achieving accurate skin tones in portraits. All processing happens in your browser for complete privacy — your images never leave your device.
Upload the photo you want to color-correct by dragging it onto the upload area or clicking to browse your files.
Drag the Temperature slider to add warmth (amber) or coolness (blue). Use the Tint slider to correct green or magenta casts. The preview updates instantly.
Download your color-corrected image in its original format when you're satisfied with the result.
Tips for Better White Balance Adjustment
- For indoor photos with yellow artificial lighting, shift Temperature toward cool (negative values) by 20-40 to neutralize the warm cast.
- For photos with fluorescent lighting (often green cast), use the Tint slider toward magenta (positive values) by 15-30 to correct the green tint.
- Sunny outdoor photos generally need little to no adjustment. Use subtle changes (±10-20) to fine-tune the mood — slightly warm for golden hour feels, slightly cool for clean modern looks.
Frequently Asked Questions — White Balance
Is the white balance tool really free?
Yes, completely free. No registration, no hidden charges, no watermarks, and no file size limits. All processing happens locally in your browser — your images never leave your device.
How does white balance correction work?
White balance correction adjusts the relative strengths of the red, green, and blue color channels in your image. The Temperature slider primarily affects the red and blue channels — shifting toward warm adds red and reduces blue, shifting toward cool does the opposite. The Tint slider primarily affects the green channel — shifting toward green adds green, shifting toward magenta reduces green. These adjustments compensate for the color temperature of different light sources to make colors appear natural.
What do Temperature and Tint mean?
Temperature refers to the warmth or coolness of light, measured in Kelvin. Lower color temperatures (2000-4000K) produce warm amber light (candles, incandescent bulbs), while higher temperatures (5500-7000K) produce cool blue light (shade, overcast sky). Our Temperature slider lets you compensate for these differences. Tint adjusts the green-magenta axis, which corrects color casts from fluorescent lights (often green) or certain LED sources (often magenta).
What image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, SVG, HEIC and more. The color-corrected result is saved in your original upload format, preserving compatibility.
Can white balance fix any color cast?
White balance is very effective at correcting overall color casts caused by the lighting conditions when the photo was taken — such as yellow from indoor bulbs, blue from shade, or green from fluorescent lights. However, it cannot fix localized color issues (like one area being off-color) or color shifts from very extreme lighting. For complex color issues, consider combining white balance with our other adjustment tools.
Does white balance affect image quality?
No. White balance adjustment is a per-pixel color channel scaling operation that preserves full image resolution and detail. Each pixel's RGB values are multiplied by the correction factors, then clamped to the valid range. No compression, resampling, or interpolation is involved — the process is fully reversible by applying the inverse adjustment.
How large of an image can I process?
Our tool handles images up to 50 megapixels (50,000,000 pixels total). If your image exceeds this limit, you'll see a warning and can try a smaller version before applying white balance correction.
