Free Online Image Classifier — Identify Objects with MobileNet AI

Easily analyze your images with our free online tool. Using intelligent image processing algorithms, it examines colors, lighting, contrast, texture, and composition to describe your photos — all in your browser. Perfect for understanding image characteristics, generating alt text for accessibility, categorizing photo collections by visual properties, or getting a quick content summary. All processing happens in your browser for complete privacy.

Tips for Image Classification

  • MobileNet is trained on ImageNet (1000+ categories) — it can identify common objects, animals, vehicles, food, and scenes with high accuracy.
  • The model works best on images with clear, centered subjects. Very unusual or abstract images may have lower confidence scores.
  • The MobileNet model (~16 MB) is downloaded on first use and cached by your browser. Subsequent uses load instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions — Image Classification

Is the image classification tool really free?

Yes, completely free. No registration, no hidden charges, no watermarks, and no file size limits. The AI model runs entirely in your browser via TensorFlow.js — your images never leave your device.

How does image classification work?

Our tool uses MobileNet, a lightweight convolutional neural network trained on the ImageNet dataset (over 14 million images across 1000+ categories). It analyzes your image through multiple layers of the network to identify patterns and features, then outputs the most likely categories with confidence scores. The entire model runs in your browser using TensorFlow.js with WebGL acceleration.

What can MobileNet recognize?

MobileNet can recognize 1000+ categories including: animals (dogs, cats, birds, fish, insects), everyday objects (phones, chairs, bottles, tools), food (fruits, dishes, desserts), vehicles (cars, planes, boats), scenes (beach, mountain, city), sports equipment, clothing, plants, and many more common items.

What image formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, SVG, HEIC and more. Images are automatically resized to 224×224 pixels for classification, matching the MobileNet input size.

How accurate is MobileNet?

MobileNetV1 achieves approximately 70-75% top-1 accuracy and 89-92% top-5 accuracy on the ImageNet dataset. For most common objects and well-lit photos, the classification is highly reliable. Accuracy decreases for unusual angles, abstract images, or objects not in the 1000+ ImageNet categories.

Does MobileNet require an internet connection?

The first time you use the tool, MobileNet model files (~16 MB) are downloaded from Google's CDN and cached in your browser. After that, classification works offline with no internet connection needed.

How large of an image can I process?

Our tool handles images up to 50 megapixels (50,000,000 pixels total). Images are resized to 224×224 for classification, so very large images may take slightly longer to read.
