Free Online Image Deblurrer — Restore Sharpness to Blurry Photos

Easily reduce blur and restore sharpness to your photos with our free online deblur tool. Using unsharp mask technology, it analyzes each pixel's surrounding area to detect and enhance the high-frequency details that define edges and textures — effectively reversing the visual effects of mild blur, camera shake, or focus issues. Perfect for fixing slightly out-of-focus photos, reducing motion blur from handheld shots, or improving the clarity of scanned images. All processing happens in your browser for complete privacy.

1. Upload

Upload the blurry image you want to fix by dragging it onto the upload area or clicking to browse your files.

2. Adjust & Apply

Drag the deblur strength slider to control the correction intensity. Start with moderate values (40-60) and increase if more correction is needed. The preview updates instantly.

3. Download

Download your deblurred image in its original format when you're satisfied with the result.

Tips for Better Deblurring Results

  • For best results, start with moderate deblur strength (40-60%) and increase gradually. Over-deblurring can create visible halos around edges and amplify image noise.
  • Deblurring works best on images with mild to moderate blur. Severely blurred or completely out-of-focus photos may not be fully correctable — consider retaking the photo if possible.
  • For noisy images, apply denoising first, then deblur. Sharpening a noisy image amplifies the noise, so better results come from cleaning up noise before enhancing edges.

Frequently Asked Questions — Image Deblurring

Is the image deblurring tool really free?

Yes, completely free. No registration, no hidden charges, no watermarks, and no file size limits. All processing happens locally in your browser — your images never leave your device.

How does the deblur algorithm work?

Our tool uses an unsharp mask algorithm. It first creates a slightly blurred copy of the image, then subtracts it from the original to isolate the high-frequency detail layer (edges and textures). This detail layer is then amplified and added back to the original. The result is enhanced edge contrast and perceived sharpness that compensates for the original blur. Unlike simple sharpen filters, this approach provides more natural-looking results with fewer artifacts.

What does the deblur strength slider do?

The strength slider (0-100) controls how aggressively the algorithm enhances high-frequency details. At 0, the image is unchanged. Low values (10-30%) provide subtle correction for very mild blur. Medium values (40-70%) work well for most blurry photos. High values (80-100%) provide maximum correction but may introduce visible sharpening halos or amplify noise in smooth areas.

What image formats are supported?

JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, AVIF, GIF, TIFF, SVG, HEIC and more. The deblurred result is saved in your original upload format, preserving compatibility.

Can deblurring fix any type of blur?

Our tool is most effective on mild to moderate Gaussian blur (from camera shake or slight out-of-focus) and motion blur. It works by enhancing existing edge contrast, so some edge information must still be present in the image. For extreme blur, motion blur with very long trails, or heavy defocus, the results may be limited. In those cases, the tool can still improve perceived sharpness but cannot fully restore the original detail.

What is the difference between deblur and sharpen?

While both tools use similar technology (unsharp masking), deblurring is specifically tuned to correct the broader, smoother loss of detail characteristic of blur — using a wider spatial analysis to detect and enhance areas where detail has faded into neighboring pixels. Sharpening is designed for enhancing existing fine details and edges in an already-sharp image. In practice, deblur is better for fixing camera shake or focus issues, while sharpen is better for making already-clear images pop.

How large of an image can I process?

Our tool handles images up to 50 megapixels (50,000,000 pixels total). If your image exceeds this limit, you'll see a warning and can try a smaller version before deblurring.
